OK so what mediums have I used well Ive used photography sound and moving image well that’s pretty comprehensive, my biggest experiment came in the last artifact when I tried to combine pictures with audio.
My influences were very wide spread but to name a few I would think Edgar Wright, Grogory Crewdson and Richard Billingham I think this is the only time these three names will be put in a list together (unless they are someone else’s influences)
Edgar Wright: he is the director of Spaced, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, the thing I like about his work is the close ups he uses and the way they cut together so well almost telling a story in themselves.
Gregory Crewdson: his photography has always impressed me the grandeur and the way his photography gets people talking is something that I really like.
Richard Billingham: his work gets the same response as Crewdson but in another way entirely. his work has influenced me with it sheer human like quality and his no holes barred style.
I think the thing that has really pleased me over the term is my composition has improved and my motivation has been affected also the thing that worked was in the spactacle artefact I feel this is the best example of my work so far but that doesnt mean I am not happy or cannot take something from all the pieces and the resarch I have done.
Things going wrong isn’t an issue for me because I don’t think of them as wrong just not what was intended for example the sound on my memory artefact was not the best quality recording but I addressed that fact and thought it made it more in keeping of the piece I wanted to make but there was one recording that Ididnt use due to it being to “buzzy” and here it is:
Things that worked have been some of the shots im my power piece, the final shots for spectacle I am happy with the way they came out for the time we had to make them and the memory idea is something i am happy with but maybe not the final product maybe it needs a little more work.
I think in the future Iwill develop all my ideas into one project I want to have images of nine people not ready to be seen (as in just got up not the elephant man) and images of them ready then in film I want to document the process in between and then maybe make it into an instillation for people to almost walk through the journey of someone getting themselves ready and challenge them to look at themselves and the ritual they follow to look “good”.
